Blue Ridge Scenic Railway North Georgia train Blue Rdge GAIf you are headed to the North GA mountains with a car full of kids, you’ll certainly want to ride the train!

The 26 mile round-trip takes about 4 hours (includes a 2 hour layover in Copperhill, TN).   The train winds along the beautiful Toccoa River and you will have the choice of sitting in a vintage climate controlled car (our choice in winter) or an open air rail car (or choice in fall).

The relaxing ride starts in downtown Blue Ridge at the historic depot (circa 1905) and then stops for a layover in the quaint sister towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee. McCaysville, GA and Copperhill, TN are split by the GA/TN State Line so be sure to look for the blue line and get your picture made standing in 2 states at the same time!

In my opinion, the fall is the best time to ride the train as the leaf color adds greatly to the scenery.  However, the Santa Express train is a great way to add a little holiday cheer to your visit!
